About Woonbelasting

A public utility, built on open government data.

What this is
Woonbelasting is a free tool that lets anyone in the Netherlands check whether their home’s WOZ value is in line with comparable homes on the same street, and draft a complete objection letter. There is no company looking over your shoulder, no registration and no payment.
Why it is free and stays free
The data Woonbelasting uses was collected with tax money and published openly. There is no bill attached to it, and so no reason to send one. The code is online under an open licence: anyone can check what happens, or run the site themselves.
What it is not
Woonbelasting is not a surveyor, not a tax adviser and not your legal representative. The result is a comparison of public figures, not legal advice. For a complicated situation (leasehold, listed buildings, commercial premises, or a home that simply cannot be compared with its neighbours) a surveyor or adviser is worth the money.
